Baseball Babe #61 Honors Jo-Jo Reyes Toronto Blue Jays 1st Win

It's snapped ... the 28 game winless streak came to a close for Jo-Jo Reyes against the Cleveland Indians. He pitched marvelously in a complete game eight hit one run ball game. His last victory came way back on June 13th 2008 against the Atlants Braves. Victory was well appreciated by the fans of the Toronto Blue Jays cheering "Jo-Jo-Jo-Jo" from the rafters and the on mound celebration!
Congrats to you Jo-Jo Reyes.

Baseball Babe #60 Honors Jose Reyes New York Mets 2 Triples

The New York Mets brought out the lumber when they faced the Philadelphia Philles. The wood was flying and so was Jose Reyes as he hit two triples out of his 4-5 day at the plate. The Mets had a total of 17 hits against the Phillies to win 9-5!

Baseball Babe #59 Honors Adam Kennedy Seattle Mariners GW Single

The night of late inning heroics! The surging Seattle Mariners and the New York Yankees went into extra innings and Adam Kennedy came through in the bottom of the 12 inning off a nasty slider from the master Mariano Rivera with a bloop single to win the game 5-4.
We do have runner-ups today!
The night also produced a Milwaukee Brewers win over the defending World Series champions San Francisco Giants with a 9th inning bunt sacrifice by Jonathan Lucroy.
Chipper Jones wanted to show he was not getting showed up so in the 12th inning he singles in the go ahead run to help the Atlanta Braves take down the Cincinnati Reds.

All three players deserve the "Baseball Babe Award", but I am going with utility journeyman Adam Kennedy for him slapping the slider of the great one Mariano Rivera.

Baseball Babe #58 Honors David Price Tampa Bay Rays 12 K's

The overpowering David Price took the mound Friday night with a mission to tke down my lifelong favorite team the Cleveland Indians. I wish he would have stayed home because he was dominate. His stuff was nasty and made the first place Indians hitters look at the catchers mitt too many times instead of over the wall. The Tampa Bay Rays pitcher only allowed 4 hits and walked two to get his 6th win of the year! As an Indian fan, I tip my hat back at you!

Baseball Babe #57 Honors Carl Crawford Boston Red Sox 2 Triples

The Boston Red Sox tore into the Detroit Tigers Thursday beating them 14-1 or two touchdowns - an extra point for the football diehards. Todays winner of the "Sportschatter Baseball Babe" goes to Carl Crawford for his two triples. The bat is coming around along with the speed that Boston Traded for the winter! For the triples we give the 3 babes for the 3 baggers!

Baseball Babe #56 Honors Zack Greinke Milwaukee Brewers 1 HR 10 K's

It's rare when a pitcher loves to hit, but Zack Greinke loves to hit! As a Kansas City Royals pitcher he never got the chance to show his skills being in the American League, but now being with the Milwaukee Brewers and the National League he gets his chance to hack. On Wednesday night he showed why he loves to hit ...hw wanted to the the chicks the long ball! He hit his first home run of the season! The bat was not all that was working Wednesday the ball whiffed 10 batters and had a strike out in every inning he pitched to win over the Washington Nationals!

Baseball Babe #55 Honors Carlos Quentin Chicago White Sox 3 HR's

Back to Back three home run nights! Tonight, Carlos Quentin of the Chicago White Sox watched three long balls leave the yard to beat my home town Texas Rangers. I wonder if the 2 hour 58 minute rain delay allowed for him to get the rest he needed of the final out at 1:27 am means he is a night owl?
Yesterday, Corey Hart hit three home runs for the Milwaukee Brewers. I guess they heard "Chicks like the long ball"!

Baseball Babe #54 Honors Corey Hart Milwaukee Brewers 3 HRs

Big man- Big stick could have been chanted Monday night as Corey Hart slugged a team record three home runs and seven rbi's take one away from the Washington Nationals and extend the streaking Milwaukee Brewers!

Sorry, for the delay in postimg! I had a sign in problem with blogspot!

Sunday Chatter: Preakness Shackleford, Indy 500, Carl Edwards, Bernard Hopkins

ShacklefordThe Preakness Stake winner Shackleford stays strong to the finish just holding off  Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom. Astrology came in third,  Dialed In was fourth and rounding out the top five was Dance City all horses ran well.  The jockey on Shackleford was Jesus Castanon riding for his first Triple Crown win.

2011 Indy 500:  The most highly regarded indy race is the Indy 500 and it will have its 100th Anniversary. The Indy 500 is the world's largest single day sporting event. It covers 500 miles with 200 laps of the famous 2.5 track. Taking the pole on this historic race will be Alex Tagliani the first canadian to ever win the pole for the Indy 500. The last two years pole winner Indy star Helio Castroneves will start in 16th position his lowest in 11 tries. Danica Patrick a once fan attraction will not be competing in this years race due to her commitment to Nascar
Congrats to Alex Tagliani for winning the pole of the 100th Anniversay of the Indy 500!

Bernard Hopkins : The ageless one, the fountain of youth or whatever you want to throw in his name Bernard Hopkins "The Executioner" won the  world championship and WBC Light-heavyweight title by a decision over the younger Jean Pascal. Bernard the oldest ever to win at 46 years old, just six months older than legend George Forman, did it with finesse. Boxing over the last decade one would have to believe has been diluted in talent by the MMA and the UFC gaining in so much popularity. So, you wonder how long can a "boxer" keep going with the skills Bernard has in his arsenal? Congrats to Bernard Hopkins!
Carl Edwards: Charlotte Motor Speedway and Nascar held the 2011 Sprint All-Star Race and Carl Edwards took home the trophy and a $1 million dollar prize purse. He did leave us with a little drama with an odd move that caused his car to dip in the grass and crumple up his #99 car that had no effect on his customary victory back flip he still made it happen! Kyle Busch came in a disappointing second, David Ruetimann a suprising third, birthday boy Tony Stewart who turned fourty a day earlier fourth and Greg Biffle fifth.

I am sorry to all my followers that I was a day late getting my Saturday chatter out, but I won't miss your cartoon.
