2013 NFL Draft: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Draft Analysis from Darrelle Revis trade, pick #43 Johnathon Banks to #189 Mike James

Day one in the war room, the day of the first rounders, was a quiet zone for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, because the were hung over from the party after signing Darrelle Revis to a new six year deal. With Tampa having the worst pass defense in 2012 adding Pro Bowl Revis was a priority in the offseason. Can "REVIS ISLAND" become a "TREASURE ISLAND" in pewter? The Buccaneers are already banking on an investment of $16 Million a year over six years none guaranteed.
Revis came from the trade of Tampa's 2013 #13 overall pick and a conditional pick (possible third or fourth round pick) in the 2014 NFL Draft to the New York Jets. So, no first rounder in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Day two and the second and third rounders was a work day bringing in an heir apparent to future hall of famer Ronde Barber in pick #43 Mississipi State CB Johnathon Banks National Football Post: With Ronde Barber still deciding if he is going to return next season, the Bucs realize they need to find his replacement. Banks is a tall (6'2) cornerback with long arms, good ball skills and good all-around athleticism. Despite his lack of premier speed, he has what it takes to be a fine starting cornerback. In addition to his talent, Banks is an outstanding young man with character, smarts and intangibles.
Rounding out day two the Bucs chose to add a challenge to starting quarterback Josh Freeman in selecting Mike Glennon QB North Carolina State their pick #73. National Football Post: The heat is clearly on Josh Freeman this year as Tampa selects his potential successor. While Glennon is a wildly inconsistent passer who makes too many bad decisions, he has an elite arm and is capable of making every NFL throw. The Bucs have positioned themselves well this offseason to compete in the NFC South in 2013, and with this pick they have a clear contingency plan for the future.
Day three and the day the sleeper pick of the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh rounders find their way on to a roster and show they have what it takes to be an NFL player.
The Buccaneers again were in the trade mode and traded with the Raiders to move up to pick #100 and get Akeem Spence DT Illinois. Bottom Line: Spence has a good build and displays a strong set of hands. He's a physical tackler, and will make tackles all around the line of scrimmage. However, he needs to improve how he comes off the ball, and needs to make better use of the power in his upper and lower body. He should be a mid-round selection as a 4-3 nose tackle.
The pick #126 (from the Patriots) has some genetics behind its madness with DE William Ghotston Michigan State cousin of Jets Vernon Gholston. Bottom Line: Gholston towers over many of his opponents, and flashes the agility, and understanding of leverage to be an impactful player. However, he tries to run around opponents far too often instead of disengaging with his hands. Very likely will have to bulk up and play 3-4 defensive end (five-technique) in the pros.
In the fifth round pick #147 the Buccaneers grabbed DE Steven Means Buffalo. Means -- who started 43 games for Buffalo -- played defensive end for the Bulls, but translates to outside linebacker in the NFL. A disruptive force as an edge rusher, Means had 6.5 sacks in 2012, 2.5 sacks in 2011, 4.5 sacks in 2010 and a team-high five sacks as a redshirt freshman in 2009.
The adding depth at pick #189 (from the Vikings) to the running game added Mike James RB Miami and will be a great back up to Doug Martin. His strengths include a powerful build, with a thick lower half. Runs behind his pads, and keeps his legs churning on contact. Fights for the extra yard, often falls forward. Tough to bring down with arm tackles. Patient runner, always his blocks to develop. Light feet, and surprising agility. Runs with balance. Good blocker, can contribute on special teams.

History has been made with a record $22 Million annual salary over five years. The Green Bay Packers have put their money into as franchise, Super Bowl Winning, MVP, and Future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
On day three of the 2013 NFL Draft we here that the 24th pick of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre's apprentice has succeeded his predecessor after taking over in 2008. Since then Rodgers has the highest career passing rating in NFL history and the second highest career completion percentage earning him this huge contact. To add icing on the cake, he also guided the Packers to their 13th Championship SuperBowl XLV and named the MVP.
Rodgers did have one more year left on a six year $63.5 million contract, but the Packers brass decided to shore up their prized possession and the 29 year old Rodgers made the deal to lock him up until he is 34 years old.
The deal surpassed two other Super Bowl winning quarterbacks Ravens Joe Flacco six year $120 million and Saints Drew Brees $20 million a year.
Now he may not need to do the State Farm Double Discount, Nike, or the Pizza Hut gig anymore to pay the bills!
