The Cleveland Indians have really made a big HIT in the 2012-2013 MLB offseason by acquiring three new bats that have experience and POWER. The Indians needed a punch this off season with leading home run hitter last year Carlos Santana hitting only 18 round trippers to lead the team. The three new additions Drew Stubbs, Mark Reynolds, and Nick Swisher could each hit over 20 home runs. The downside to the power is the strike outs all three could swing and miss 150 times or more times next season. A needed priority for 2013 was to add outfield depth. Adding two serviceable starting outfielders to the line up will help new skipper Terry Francona start off on a better playing field than what was left with Manny Acta's departure. As a fan, I hated to lose Shin-Soo Choo. First base was another need that needed to be addressed, signing Mark Reynolds to man the position adds experience to the position. He will be the anchor the infield and of the double play combo of Asdrubel Cabrera and Jason Kipnis. All three additions will be welcomed in Progressive Field and hope to better their 68-94 record and 4th in the division set last year. The hopes of an Indians fan is we start off like 2012 with a 44-41 before the all-star break. but end in reverse of the slide 24-53 the Tribe posted in the second half. That would leave the Tribe with a respectable 97-65 record and the playoffs!!
