2012 NFC Divisional Playoffs New York Giants vs. Green Bay Packers

Sunday, 4:30 p.m. ET, Lambeau Field

The Quarterbacks

Manning
Rodgers

The defenses on both sides of the ball will have a tough time keeping the score down. In there last meeting Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers edged out the Eli Manning led New York Giants by a field goal in a 38-35 win. Both quarteback threw for over 300 yards passing, Rodgers 369 and Manning 342, in the battle of the QB's. Only Mason Crosby's last second field goal seperated the two's day on the field.
During the regular season with Rodgers sitting out the final game the stats were pretty close in yardage 4933 by Manning and 4643 by Rodgers, but the touchdowns were clearly in Rodgers favor, he threw for 45 touchdowns during the season where only 29 were thrown by Manning. If Rodgers would have played the last game of the season he might have joined the 5000 yard club along with Brees, Stafford and Brady this year.
Advantage - Rodgers

Running Backs
Bradshaw
Grant

Jacobs
Starks

Punishing backs that just help balance the play selection and blocking for the quarterbacks will be the main job for all the backs in this divisional game. We could see one back break one to help keep the defenses honest, but passing is what both teams are looking to do. The Giant's Ahmad Bradshaw 659 yards and Brandon Jacobs 571 yards rushing will not scare defenses just like Ryan Grant 559 and James Starks 578 of Green Bay. The main issue with all four is health, injuries have stifled them all year. Will we see all four of these in the game?
Advantage - Even

Wide Receivers
Nicks

Nelson
Cruz
Nelson
The field will be stretched to the limit and all of the 100 yards could be used up on any given play by these speedsters. Both of the Giants star receivers had great season's the veteren Hakeem Nicks caught 82 passes for 1536 yards to lead the team. The mentoring by Nicks paid off for the young talented Victor Cruz who put up great numbers 1192 yards and seven touchdowns. Stealing the spotlight a few times from the master.
Not far off the pace, the wide open offense of the Packers with Rodgers throwing to everyone wearing green and yellow still had leaders and Jordy Nelson and his 1263 yards passing and fifteen touchdowns was a huge target all year. Greg Jennings the ageless one had 949 yards and 9 touchdowns to show he still has it.
Both Cruz and Nelson had an average over 18.5 yards per catch showing the endzone is closer than it may appear.
Advantage - Even

Defenses

Tuck
Matthews
The match up should have lots of offense just like the game back on December 4th. Just watch the defense of the Giants and and their 4-3 defense and Justin Tuck swarming the quarterback and the ability of Rodgers to get the ball out quick and let the speed take on the secondary of the Giants. Time management of Eli Manning could play a big roll in keeping drives alive, eating clock and staying away from Clay Matthews and his fierce pass rushing and his filling in the gaps abilty. A must see on Sunday
Prediction Packers 38 - Giants 36
