Joseph Vincent "Joe" Paterno (Dec. 21, 1926 - Jan. 22, 2012) had a career as a head football coach for the Penn State Nittany Lions for 46 years from 1966 through 2011. His passing was due to complications relating to his lung cancer. A true college football icon even out of the state of Pennsylvania when he was elected in May of 2006 and was inducted December 2007 into the College Football Hall of Fame. Joe holds the most wins by an NCAA I Football Division with 409 wins and the only coach with more than 400 wins in a career. He also holds the record for most bowl wins with 24 wins. He won two national titles (1982 and 1986) with the Nittany Lions.
He leaves behind a loving wife Susan, 5 children and 17 grandchildren a legacy of a great man!
