I guess the outfield of the Philadephia Phillies needed the day off. Vance Worley did not allow a hit out of the infield in his four perfect innings pitched against the over matched Pittsburg Pirates. The repertoire of pitches including sliders, sinkers and curveballs fooled the batters striking out two batters in each of hie four innings.
Worley was third in voting last year in the 2011 NL Rookie of the Year voting while going 11-3 with a 3.01 ERA. Will the 119 strikeouts last year at 24 years old will solidify his spot in the stellar Phillies rotation?
Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels, Joe Blanton and Kyle Kendrick all vying for the starting rotation spots.
