The Kansas City Royals added some catching depth with the acqusition of Humberto Quintero from the Houston Astros. Last year in 79 ball games had a line of .240/.258/.372 in 272 plate appearences. He will help fill a need at the catcher position left by Salvador Perez's injury and knee operation.
Also in the deal was speedy outfielder Jason Bourgeois his line last year was a promising .294/.323/.357 with 31 stolen bases while playing outfield and some second base that could add depth.
What will the Kansas City Royals lose, a fourth round selection from the Florida Gators in 2010 minor league left-hander Kevin Chapman and a player to be named later. Chapman 24-years old with a 6'4" frame has some youth and can be a factor from the left side for the Astros. Last year in Class A and Double A ball he posted a 4.94 ERA with 13.1 K/9 and 4.1 BB/9 in 62 innings of relief showed his strikeout ability!
